How EDUCAUSE's 10 Higher Ed IT Priorities Stack Up [#Infographic]

Information security reigns in EDUCAUSE's top 10 IT issues of 2016.

Ever wonder what topics are dominating the minds of today's higher education IT leaders?

EDUCAUSE picked the brains of its research panel members, which include CIOs and other IT leaders, to help determine which issues made it onto this year’s list of the organization's Top 10 IT issues. The entire EDUCAUSE membership was then surveyed to rank the issues.

One of the fruits of this research is a dense infographic laying out the top issues, along with how they fit within this year's issue themes: divest, reinvest and differentiate.

EdTech spoke with Susan Grajek, EDUCAUSE’s vice president for data, research and analytics at the organization's annual conference in October about how these three themes can help guide today's higher ed IT leaders.

"In order to create the room and the capabilities and maturity to differentiate and invest in e-learning and analytics in a real, competitive way, institutions need to retool and re-engineer what they're doing," says Grajek. "Divest yourselves of some of the older ways that you may be delivering services, but also some of the ways that you may be managing data."
